Venous Insufficiency Screening

The veins in your legs carry blood back to the heart with the help of one-way valves. When these valves become weak or damaged, blood can flow backward and collect in the veins. This condition, known as chronic venous insufficiency, may contribute to leg heaviness, aching, swelling, varicose veins, skin changes, and discomfort. A venous ultrasound evaluates blood flow and valve function to help identify venous insufficiency that may require medical follow-up.

What This Screening Evaluates

A venous ultrasound uses sound waves to evaluate the superficial veins of the legs, assess valve function, and detect venous reflux. It can identify abnormal backward blood flow, enlarged veins, and other findings that may require further medical evaluation.
