Leg Artery Screening

Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) Screening
The arteries in your legs carry oxygen-rich blood to the muscles and tissues of your lower extremities. Over time, plaque made of cholesterol, calcium, and other substances can build up inside these arteries, narrowing blood flow. This condition, known as peripheral artery disease (PAD), may cause leg pain, cramping, slow-healing wounds, or no symptoms at all. A leg artery ultrasound evaluates blood flow and helps identify narrowing or blockage that may require medical follow-up.
Did You Know?
More Than 10 Million Americans Are Affected
Peripheral artery disease affects an estimated 10 million people in the United States.
Many People Have No Symptoms
Some people with PAD may not experience symptoms until the disease becomes more advanced.
Higher Risk of Heart Attack & Stroke
People with PAD have an increased risk of heart attack, stroke, and other cardiovascular events.
Ultrasound Is Safe & Accurate
Ultrasound is a painless, non-invasive way to evaluate blood flow and detect peripheral artery disease.
What This Screening Evaluates
A leg artery ultrasound uses sound waves to evaluate blood flow through the arteries of the lower extremities. It can identify plaque buildup, narrowing or blockage of the arteries, and changes in blood flow that may require further medical evaluation.
